History
Siamese cats are associated with Thailand (historically Siam) and became widely known internationally over time. The breed’s recognizable colorpoint pattern and social temperament helped it stand out among early popular pedigreed cats.
How the “points” work (simple)
The colorpoint pattern is linked to temperature-sensitive pigment expression. Cooler parts of the body (ears, face, paws, tail) develop darker coloration, while the warmer torso stays lighter.
Today, Siamese cats are beloved as energetic companions. Many modern lines emphasize a sleek, long-bodied look, while other lines keep a more moderate, traditional appearance.
